Jay Olson made his first pair of chaps in the mid-2000’s while working on a cattle ranch in the Powder River Region in Northeast Wyoming. Jay asked a friend and neighbor to borrow his to use as a template, spent one night and made himself a new pair of chaps! In 2022, Jay purchased K Bar J Leather Company from long-time friend and cowboying partner, Jack Gully. Jay, his wife, Abby, their two boys, Jory and Jace and their team, located in Newell, SD, are proud to supply chaps and chinks to horsemen and businesses around the world!
Made for cowboys, by cowboys!

“They were extremely accommodating, made you feel like family and the quality of their work is top notch! They are an amazing company to do business with and my favorite part is that they are local; a local business that donates to our local events and their generosity to the SD High School Rodeo Queen contest today was greatly appreciated!”
